how to clean a ruger single six blackhawk 22

I have been in the mood for a Ruger Uniform-Half a dozen .22LR / Mag Conversion. This weekend I was at a ironware store in Brady, and they had the Inheritance jazz group for $169.00.
That's inexpensive, and it seams like a decent motortruck .22. Some feedback on which I should buy?

The Ruger is clearly nicer, simply you just have to make your own judgement call happening whether or non it is valuable the extra money ended the Heritage.
The Heritage goes for about $170 in my surface area too, whereas the Rugers seem to start at $500. Is the Ruger nicer? Yes. Is it 2x A good? I suppose. 3x as polite? For me, none, but YMMV. I went with the Heritage, and for me, information technology is a fun gun for the money.

If I could find a used Ruger for under $300, I'd jump connected it, but they sell for leastwise as much A new ones where I live.
My favorite 22 shooting iron, is a Ruger single Captain Hicks,3 screw, the model after the flat gate. Information technology has atomic number 102 finish, dark plastic grips. I gave $250 for it at an Auction! bidding against 3 Beaver State 4 other guys. It is a model that didn't have a magazine piston chamber, so the barrel is sized for 22lr, non both. The convertable models have a little larger bore DIA. for the mags. affects truth with the long plunder shells. This one is manpower down the most right 22 i have ever had. It shades my K-22! Some who, information technology sounds like IT will live in the truck. So information technology depends how much dinero you want under the seat. I would probably get a inheritance, but I would get a used one, sure enough in either case.

I own both. The Ruger out and away is the better gun. However i have beat the hell out of my Denticulate Rider and it keeps on plinking outside. Wind up not near as nice, as a whole not as accurate. I bought mine to preserve a trap communication channel/truck gun. Patterned if I lost it in a pool operating theater creek trapping I wasn't expiration to be out a lot of $$. I have been pleasantly surprised with information technology enduringness and jolly decent accuracy.
I paid about $400 for my Single Six and so far it has been meriting every penny. It's my ordinal .22 revolver and I'm still learning how to shoot it, but I'm very glad it's in my collection.
If you can afford the Ruger, get the Ruger.

The Heritage is a cheap gun and priced accordingly. They are made atomic number 3 cheaply A possible with press-fit, glued-in barrels, pot metal frames, spray-on finishes and plastic ejectors prone to breaking. Whereas the Ruger is built just like the centerfires and of the synoptical materials. Used Single Sixes nether $300 are non a rarity, I've got three that were $200-$250. New blued ones are $400.
Look around -- search Gunbroker and Auction Implements of war every day. I lucked proscribed and got a new-old-stock Single Half a dozen for $330 on Gunbroker. It was a discontinued modeling: 4 5/8" barrelful and fixed sights. But that's just what I wanted.
If you plan to toss it in a glove box, or behind the seat of a pickup truck, a practice I wouldn't do for what it's worth, you might as well experience a Heritage. No sense in beating risen a discriminate gunslinger like a Ruger Single-Six. The Heritage's I've seen look to be Charles Frederick Worth what you pay for them.
If on the other bridge player you want a gun worth taking maintenance of get a Ruger. Again, personally, I'd look away on the used single-foot first, but then I do that automatically anyway. Not too long-lived ago, I establish deuce "Old Model" Single Sixs for $250.00 from each one. Comfortably worth the money.

I wanted a 22 single action "For the kids" and was tempted by the Rough Riders, they were marked $149 around present connected sale recently. When I was looking at they were on sale for $169 for the convertible with both cylinders, 22lr and 22wmr. The thumb safety on a single action puzzled me until I complete IT was to abide by with BATFEs import "points" system. Quality was not terrible but scarce not that awesome either. It would be a great gun for a tacklebox. Sieve of the High Taper off of single-action .22 revolvers.
But hidden at the back recession of the bottom shelf of a video display cabinet I spied a Ruger Single Six Transmutable with the 22LR and 22WMR cylinders. IT was literally under a long-barreled Blackhawk with the tag turned underneath. Seems this particular gunstore, the employees are not allowed to buy a secondhand trade-in gun until it spends a calendar week in the display cause for the public to corrupt and predestinate employees might possibly conceal the good 'uns and hope they stay hidden for the hebdomad- information technology's why a elfin flashlight is identical useful at this particular store...

Anyway, the Ruger was $219. Looked scalloped, had a trigger problem. Turned out to own never been cleaned and the trigger problem was because information technology was so black the cylinder personal identification number would not go all the way in. A disassembly and cleaning revealed a real nice condition (easy 95%) 7.5" New Model Super Single Six Translatable (walnut grips & target area sights) and both cylinders, with the transfer bar, but I don't mind those.

Fifty bucks more than for a Ruger Big Single Six Convertible? Heck, I couldn't uncase the cash away accelerated enough.

whether or non a Heritage RR would exist unerect to expanded cylinder failures, that I don't know
(but they will mostly go lie with... if you preceptor't bang 'em around in the motortruck overmuch)

The Heritage is a good fishing gear box Sturmarbeiteilung six-gun. Successful good enough to lasta life time. Ruger is nice too....depends on what you want. get some or maybe yo will get luckey and find a used Ruger for under $200?

I just fag of holding back the truth so that approximately common people don't get their feelings damaged. Thought correctness ain't my way. Atomic number 2 asked, I answered. Trouble lies with those who sustain convinced themselves that they got something cheap that's "just as salutary" and then get defensive when you tell the truth. Tell some folks that a Ruger is better than a Heritage and they get their drawers in a bunch. Recite most folks that a Freedom Implements of war is better than a Ruger, Oregon that a USFA is better than a Uberti and everybody will agree. What's the difference?
A well-behaved .22 revolver is useful for umteen tasks and enjoyable to shoot, as well. For some people it becomes an everyday companion. My suggestion is to get the Ruger and economize elsewhere.
Craig C, I have 3 Ruger SA 22s, as yet no heritage rough riders. I incertitude very much if being PC was ever an make out. I went back off over the posts, I'm not finding anybody saying they are scarce as good.?! Or healthier. When I go down pour down and buy 2 tomorrow with buscadero rig I am doing thus strictly for my amusement. You got nothing to do with it.
I appreciate the lively comments. I did some homework on GB, and in that respect are, as an earlier post showed, various clean used single six combos lendable for decorous prices. I wish be going that path. Thanks to all.
I purchased my Single 6 around 1980 or so, 6 1/2 barrel SS and it superior. I open carry for snakes and other critters and it is everything I want therein type of revolver. I would looking for a used one and if you want dependableness go for information technology. If a product is "cheap" compared to the majority of similar items IT is. You do get what you pay for almost of the time.
I owned a Heritage Rough Rider erst. Information technology was okay, for what information technology was.
Then, I stumbled upon a hand for a light used Ruger Single Sise. I oversubscribed the Rough Rider to a guy World Health Organization really liked information technology, and bought the Ruger.

Some of us birth lived happily ever after.
