Hi :hiya: This is something I've done for years so know exactly what you mean. Foundation gets deep in the fibres and its tought to get out but you can do it. Basically, run under very hot tap pressing the brush into the sink at the same time to squeeze foundation out. Use shampoo or washing up liguid, foam rinse whilst squeezing into sink with hot water running onto brush and, here's the key, repeat at least 5 times!! It probably only didn't work for you because you did it just the once? Foundation brushes need a good 10 minutes of repeat shampooing but it will come out. Good luck :)

Also soak in some surgical spirit to kill all the bugs- do this with all your brushes, it keeps them squeeky clean!

Thanx Folks

I've only recently started using a foundation brush.  Always used fingers before, but a brush is much better.

Will do the repeated washing method.

Though tempted to just go out and buy a new brush each time! Haha!

i started using one a body shop one a couple of weeks ago with the estee lauder double wear foundation, i found the foundation went bitty on the brush and just had to keep washing it, put it down to the fact that double wear is hard to remove from my skin anyway.  Might try washing it in almond oil as i'm about to try the oil cleansing method.   How often do you wash your brush?  i don't have anything to store mine in, didn't keep the plastic wallet and it goes dry and stiff after i've used it, am i meant to wash it every time?

do your brushes once a month.

i use facial cleanser to clean mine (i definitely dont press or tap them as this damages them) then i leave them in a little bit of dettol for 30 mins and air dry them on a thick absorbent clean towel.

hiya, MAC do a really good brush cleaner, its a bit expensive at £8 bbut it lasts ages! It makes all my brushes come up really clean and shortens the drying time as well. I brought mine 5 months ago and havent even got though half of it yet!
Hope this helps x

ID Make up, (bare minerals) do a spray brush cleaner which you spray onto a tissue and the move your brush over the tissue, it really works well and has a nice smell too, you can use it on eye-shadow and blusher brushes too

I use an anti bac face wash to wash mine!  Makes sense that will remove it as it does from face and I'm not keen on using anything too harsh like washing up liquid etc as I'm using it on my face.  I wrap them in a clean towel to dry.

This is very simple tasks to wash foundation brush easily, first of all, wet the bristles with normal warm water for 2 to 3 min and use soap to wash it, then gently massage the bristles of brushes and last one squeeze the extra water from the bristles and now it ready for further use. Buy Foundation brush online on societyvogue.com.

I use a silicone brush cleaning mat (bought off a well known auction site) it was approximately £3.

I've used different things to clean the bristles (baby shampoo, Elemis facial wash and Philosophy One Step Cleanser).

The mat is good at getting deep into the bristles.

Wet the bristles with lukewarm water. Place a drop of makeup brush cleanser or soap into the palm of your hand. Gently massage the tips of the bristles in your palm. Rinse the bristles. Squeeze out the excess moisture with a clean towel. Reshape the brush head. Otherwise, you may buy a brush cleaning mat which is very useful.
