How To Clean Brushes On Hoover Steamvac
I lay mine on its side on my back door step and then use a pitcher of hot water to rinse it out the area and a metal comb to get anything else out. Vacuum thoroughly before starting.
I saw a design show about 10 or 12 years ago on tv. They painted a subfloor after they took the rug up. They used enamel paint I believe. They painted a base color then taped a design of large diamonds. It came out very pretty. You could also paint a base coat and paint a rug design in the middle, or a border design around the edge.
This might be an answer to Calhancarol's question about plywood flooring.
On any of our vacuum brushes and accessories, when I get ready to clean them, I use a pair of embroidery scissors and everyday scissors to cut the threads, hair, yard, or carpet thread that might be wrapped around the rollers. A have a wire brush I use to brush against the pattern of the roller. I think the wire brush might have been a grill brush before I took it over. I happen to work over spread out newspapers, but I like the doorstep idea. Best wishes ☺️

I used to use a small, plastic, fine tooth pharmocket comb. Worked like a charm!

Thank you for the suggestions. It isn't one long roller brush. There are 6 that spin. I will try a comb but with so many it's time consuming....
Pull the clear casing from the brushes by pushing down on tabs. Brushes will come right out. Use powder detergent and scrubby brushes. Hold brushes downward. With a spray nozel on your sink, spray in a downward direction. Hair and carpet fibers will move down the bristle until you just pull it off.

This is how I clean mine, first soak the brush in warm water, then brush it with a "Paw Brothers extra long hard pin slicker brush" (You can buy this in your local pet shop). It takes me about ten minutes to clean the Hoover brush, then leave it to dry out, then vacuum. You can buy an equivalent pet brush, but it must have steel 'hairs'.
